Adobe Flash Professional CS5 to create iPhone apps
Author: cristiano
It's now possible to create applications for the Apple iPhone using the Adobe Flash Platform. Infact, during the Adobe MAX 2009 event in Los Angeles, Adobe has presented Flash Professional CS5, a new software that allows the creation and the compilation of Flash applications for iPhone and iPod touch. The developers in ActionScript 3 can so create or convert existing applications in native format for iPhone.
The company chief, Shantanu Narayen, said: "We believe Flash is synonymous with the Internet experience, and we are committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone. We have evaluated [the SDK] and we think we can develop an iPhone Flash player ourselves."
At least for now, it's still not possible to view Flash files on iPhone, nor on Mobile Safari, nor in applications built with Xcode.
This software will be available not only for Mac users, but it will also allow developers to create games in Flash for iPhone working on Windows.
There are no official statements of a partnership with Apple, but Adobe has already released seven games at the time already available in the App Store: South Park Avatar Creator, Chroma Circuit, Just Letters, Trading Stuff, Red Hood, Fickleblox and That Roach Game.
Adobe Flash Professional CS5 will be available at the end of the year, but you can however request a beta from the Adobe site (www.adobe.com).
